Need New Fly line? |
Lead | ||
|
I need to buy some fly lines. I need a 3 wt for an Orvis Super Fine 7 1/2ft. I also will be looking for a 4 wt for a 7 ft bamboo. My options are Cortland 333
Pro or 444DT peach; Rio Classic or Mainstream; S/A Mastery GPX . Any experinces with these lines?

It's pretty hard to go wrong with Peach or Rio Classic. I prefer the Classic slightly due to its slicker coating and resulting casting characteristics, but
I love them both.

I've got a new Peach in WF3 that I've been trying to get rid of. 30 bucks and it's yours. I've used it about a half dozen times.

There are the Hook and Hackle house lines $30, I don't own any nor have I fished them. I was thinking of trying a WF6 which I'm in need of. I've
always liked the S A Ultra 3 (no longer made) and Cortland 444 peach.

i prefer the RIO product line. i use the RIO GOLD on most of my bamboo rods. i have found that it loads the rod good on short cast and long casts as well. i
really like the coating on rio's lines good company to work with.

I have a couple Hook 'n Hackle lines. For the money they're hard to beat......if you must fish plastic. Were I not so hooked on silk I'd be fishing
Hook 'n Hackle lines except for Cortland Sylk.

Vic provides another option for you to consider... the Cortland Sylk...I use them on cane in 3 - 6 wt and like them alot... the earlier lines were not so good,
but it appears Cortland resolved the issue they were having with the finish becoming "sticky"

You might want to add RIO GOLD to your list. I did a bit of research on Rio Gold and it seems to get high praise from just about everybody who uses it. If
you fish in a varity of situations and constantly switch from drys, to nymphs, to streamers on any given day, it appears that this would your best line and
worth considering.

I have been fishing the Sage Quiet Taper WF-Lines since this line appeared on the market. Now I changed to Cortland Precision Trout Platinum Dyna Tip, which I
prefer to Rio-Lines.
