I'm kind of partial to Charlie Craven's CB ("Charlie Boy") Hopper, but that may be because it's an extremely easy tie:
http://www.charliesflybox...x/details.cfm?parentID=16 I just finished tying up two and a half dozen for Casting for Recovery. There's a bit of a wait for the superglue to dry, but they float like the proverbial cork and don't use too many different materials. |

The key to a good hopper is good foam | #4 | ||

The foam they sell in fly tying stores is all far too dense and heavy.
Better, ultra-lightweight foam exists, but the materials wholesalers haven't figured it out yet: http://www.classicflyrodforum.com/topic/19423

Do you have a link to a "how to". I'd like to give those a try. If not I'll do my best from the picture. I think I like this one better than
any other I've seen. Simple all foam design they has a bit of realism to it.

spiaailtli wrote: Your post illustrates the value of "threaded" forums. It's not clear which post, and which of a half dozen hotrod hoppers you're referring to. I posted one of many good-looking hoppers. I didn't include instructions. I'll try to work that in this week some time.

Sorry, I'm use to threads that show who you are replying to or asking a question of. I was referring to Ben Kann's photo. Most of the hoppers posted
I've tied, but I've never seen Ben's hopper before and thought it looked pretty neat.

Sorry, I snagged the photo (there wasn't any supporting info) with an eye to reinventing them for myself (hasn't happened yet).
Good luck and if you work it out, please let us in on the details. Ben |
