Sure. Agates were $30-35 depending on size and color, and the replacement was around $75. I was very satisfied with the end result.

this is very easy.
if you don't like it, don't buy it.

the US dollar has been falsely undervalued for Many years, essentially since the acceptance of the Euro.
Reality is moving back in. the check on the new Perfect is the same as the Bougle and Lightweight check

My rational mind (and pocketbook) has a hard time justifying the price of the new Perfect when an unused Mark IV Bougle can still be found for around half the
price. Also, why the gray agate? A red would have been such a nice touch. Just my opinions of course!

I'll have to say the original mineral smoky agates are Fine, but I agree the man-made agatine is boring in gray.

yes i agree , even tho this reel has had the agate replaced , i think the red just stands out better with these older reels , you know looks is everything
now in no way would i take a nice ol st george like bulldogs reel and just swap the grey agate out when nothing wrong with , just so i could have a red one in it , you would have to be of not sound mind to do that but if it's cracked or broken and has to be replaced then yes sir , ''it's all red rings for my reels ''

I agree with Richard, I got these three reels for less than market value because they had chipped or broken agates. I had all replaced by Hardy BC for a very
reasonable cost and I love the results. They are no longer 100% original, but they are 100% functional now and I do use them. I would, of course declare the
work should I ever sell, but I do not think this would devalue them much.

I still can't see how the new perfects are boring or ugly
over
priced yes but they are still a sexy looking beast. If they were $500 they would be the darling of the angling world and Hardy would once again be a force. Oh
well Hardy front office,, hope that shot-gun blast to the foot heals soon enough

I think the gray agate in the new Perfects is beautiful. Very understated and elegant.
We all have our opinions about what is nice looking and what isn't. When you're the one paying the bill, all that matters is that you like it.

I agree, they're beautiful reels, and certainly more appealing (to me) than the 70s-80s "bump" version...

I don't see any problem with the looks of the new Hardy Perfects. When Winston came out with their line up of green perfects they too looked
"different" but now look beautiful.

I agree with Wilfred, "more appealing than the 70s-80s "bump" version. . . ."
I'm sure it is a smooth reel with the Bougle insides if you will . . . I'm not sure why they didn't use the original check system, that would have been sweet . . . I just don't think it will age very well, at least nothing like the original version of the reel I think most of us agree the leaded reels are beautiful . . . I do like the idea of the 2 5/8" LHW even though I don't have a need for a reel that small . . . Alan |

Respectfully -- when did "need" have anything to do with buying reels? Dennis |
