Happy Cane Heads, it is time for the second CFRF Haiku Contest.
A haiku is a three line poem of 17 syllables layered 5-7-5.
Rules are simple: your haiku must relate to any topic discussed on
the Forum in the last year. You can edit your haiku as many times as you want, but if you plant a real stinker, you can't delete it. {Moderators can
delete anything; they are omnipotent.}
Prizes are about the same as last year, two new, economical fly reels, a Cabela's sportsman's tool, salmon
flies thought to be tied by Maine guides in winter
{until I
run out}, and a nicely designed certificate to all made in a real print house.
This is a secret agent sort of contest
-- only the winners and I know who wrote the "best" haikus. Although this year
I'd like three volunteers to help me rank the haiku. Post me privately if you'd like to be a haiku volunteer. Volunteers can't submit, but they
will get a certificate.
The contest will run for three weeks through Sunday January 25th. And, if you can't write haiku, send your best effort.
Everyone gets an honorable mention certificate.
Our 2009 Haiku Contest was approved by none other than the CaneFather. Perhaps he, or another moderator, will be so kind as to pin this note.
Best luck! We will all enjoy your bamboo haiku!
