The shooting Star I believe was a heavier weight rod intended or capable of being used for saltwater fly fishing.
If you look in the Greg Reynolds data base, drop to the bottom and it gives rod descriptions. Pete

I used to own a 8'6" Shooting Star. I don't care for it. For me it's much too heavy of a rod to cast for very long and it's action or lack
of is much too fast/stiff for my pleasure. But, some say they love this rod...I don't get it. If you can find the Orvis Light Salmon rod I believe it's
more user friendly in that it actually flexes and does have action.

Two common lengths, 8'6" and 9', I've got the 8'6" and it's a great all around heavy duty rod. For an 8/9 wt it is unusual in
that it can be cast all day without tiring. I use mine for bass and heavy duty work on the White River in AR.

FWIW, Shooting Star tapers changed over the years and the later ones have lighter tapers. Some were built on Battenkill tapers as were some of the Light Salmon
models. They were just kitted-out differently.
