Rio Selective Trout lines |
Lead | ||

In reading the various threads related to lines recommended for cane rods, I rarely see the Rio Selective Trout double taper lines recommended. Have others
tried them, and if so, are there particular features that make them a less desirable choice for bamboo? Thanks.

I'm not sure. I think they work great on cane rods. They're very supple, float well, and are very slick.

Many people use and like them. If you use the search function you will find a number of references if not entire threads recommending the Rio Selective Trout
lines.
They are great lines in both WF and DT TC |

I've used Rio Selective Trout lines in both DT and WF on several cane rods. They perform beautifully and are usually the first plastic line I try on a cane
rod. The DTs are especially nice on "tweener" rods 7'9" - 8' in length.

I use them, I have a DT 6 and a Wf 4, as previously stated, nice and supple, and float well.

I also like the new ST DT II lines on my cane rods.

I used nothing but Cortland 444 DT for years - until last year when I tried the RIO Selective Trout line. It worked great - supple and slick. I am ordering two
more lines this year.

Lee, I have and use these lines in both WF and DT versions. I'll be the dissenter here and say that I'm not wild about them. While they do have a
delicate dry-fly presentation that is great, I find their delivery lacking and they're often too delicate for my tastes.
I much prefer the Wulff TT or the SA Mastery Trout, which I think has a better finish and offers better durability. Have a Sharkskin, but haven't put enough time in with it to offer a good opinion there, but this may be an option. I used an Airflo extensively many years ago and was less than enthused, so I stopped using this brand. But I do hear a few positive comments about the "Ridged" trout line or some such. My two bits. |
