Source for Hardy parts |

I am in winter maintenance/ cleaning mode. One of my Marquis reels (60's or 70's I think) has a very tired spring. At one time you could buy
"A" etc packs for the various Hardy's that had Pawls springs etc. The shop I last bought them at is long gone...... Can anyone suggest a source
for parts? I have a number (it's not a collection b/c I use all of them

Have a search on the unmentionable site....I have recently seen the Hardy 'A' packs on there from a USA based supplier.

By the time you pay his shipping, you're up to $27 for a pair of springs and pawls.
Check with Bill Tucker at Highfields www.hardybc.com - may be not be fast, but I think the prices will be better. You will also only have to know the model of your reel, and Bill will know the correct springs and pawls.
the rods are never obsolete - the marketing is.

I thought it would be handy to have one or two spares of both but at those prices ... I guess I'll just have to deal with the problems once they arise
Marty, if you happen to be on this side of the pond try giving Hardy in the UK a call. They have been very helpful to me in the past and even sent me some small spareparts FOC (also for a Marquis coincidentally). Good luck! |

Thanks!! I will email Bill. The EZflyfish site didn't have the pack I currently need but, they do have a chart that shows which packs go with what
reels. Now I am armed with a list of the repair packs that might be useful and if I stumble across them I'll just salt them away. Same principle I use
for great hackle or silk or fur ....buy it I'll need it eventually.

I had good luck with an email to the new Hardy location in the Carlisle area of PA. Try an email to Ken Hodgen

".buy it I'll need it eventually." hahaha! You bet - and that is why I am shaking my head as I go thru all the stuff I have bought over time.
Some I DO need. Right?

Try Orvis for the pawls. I picked up a pack of replacement pawls for the CFO 123. These measured the same in thickness and overall dimensions as the genuine
Hardy of same construction (sintered powder-metal). Hardy and BFR(who made the later, pre-Asian CFOs) probably used the same supplier. I don't know the
full range of Hardy reels these may fit, but, I have used them quite successfully in Flyweight, Featherweight, LRH Lightweight, 30's through 50's
Uniqua, and 30's through 40's Perfect. Be sure the Orvis pawls are for the click drag. The pawls for the CFO Disc are too small. Forget the springs,
they aren't even close.

Bill Tucker at Highfields was able to set me up quickly and easily!! Now the only excuse for losing fish this spring will be the nut holding the rod.

Another "salute" to Highfields. I ordered a set of springs @ $7.95 each on Feb. 3rd and they arrived today. Postage and all the cross borders
fal-de-ral was only $3. They are good folks to do business with.
