Where in your heirarchy of priorities does fishing reside ?
Lets say you (for the most part) are happy where you currently live. You've lived there for a long time, and are comfortable. There's decent fishing within a five minute drive from your house, and good fishing within an hour's drive.
You have a pretty good career, and are paid decently, but aren't entirely satisfied, and have risen as far with your current employer (and the local economy as a whole) as you ever will. For the record, you have 25 years of work ahead of you before you can retire.
You have the opportunity to relocate to an area that offers far better prospects for advancing your career, in terms of satisfaction and income. However, by relocating you will be going to an area where you need to drive a substantial distance to get to any fishing, and over 8 hours to get to an area that offers the kind of fishing you are used to (type and quality) where you currently live.
Fishing isn't the only consideration here; it's more quality of life as a whole, but fishing, and all the esoteric things that accompany it - the peaceful, almost spiritual feeling you get alone in the woods, the lucidity of thought provided by not having TVs, telephones and traffic clanging everywhere around you, the just plain joy it inspires - is a big part of it.
Did I mention that you are getting pressure from your family to move ?
What would you do ?
