I think I'll be the proud owner of this rod in a few weeks. Anyone having experience with one care to provide an opinion on what type of line to use?

I agree with Drew.
When I owned one, I used a DT-5 on it too, with a Hardy LRH Lightweight. A classic Phillipson. Regards, Flyman

For the 8 footer I would agree with the Peach DT5. For the 8 1/2 footer either the same or maybe the Peach WF6. (I'm a big Cortland Peach fan)

I presume that you are referring to the 5 1/2 ounce rod? If so, I use either a DT 6 or WF7 depending upon conditions.
