I don't know that I've ever seen it tied as a dry? Your post is coincidental. I just tied some wet flies of this pattern, just the other night:
my tying skills don't approach yours, but I'm not ashamed of this either. It'll do fine on the swing...

The dry version was Harry Plunket Greene's favourite pattern, a reason enough to have a few in the box...

Love the Iron Blue Dun, it is a great producer down here in north Georgia! Here is my soft hackle version, tied with a Jackdaw scalp feather and a touch of
moleskin dubbing on the body.
