I have an Orvis kit rod from 1960's that is an 8', 3/4 wt. Does anyone know if Orvis ever made a 7'6", 4wt.?

For my money, the Orvis Midge taper is a 7'6" for a 4 wt.
I have one and use a DT-4 on it. Regards, Flyman

I would agree with Flyman as to the Orvis Midge. I've owned one and mine liked a four.

Orvis recommended a DT4 for the Midge in 1964-1965, then a WF5 starting in 1966. The common 7 1/2-foot, 3 7/8-oz , 12/64-ferrule model with handle a DT4 well
too.

Greg Reynolds wrote:Greg, when you say it will handle a 4 well too, what kind of action are referring to? My slow is a rod that will noticeably bend at least halfway on a 30 ft. cast but you can feel it bending almost all the way to the grip. Where a medium action to me is where it only visibly bend about a 1/3 of the way, but feels like it bending about down to the ferrule. Fast is anything that bends less than that. TIA Bill |

Canewrap wrote: Bill, mine--the Superfine variant--has a medium action with a DT5 or DT4, which was unexpected and found while lining the rod. Others have reported it. I do fish mine with a DT5F out of preference for the versatility of the line weight. |

I put a DT4 Sylk on my 12 ferrule without any ill effects to my casting. I do also use a DT5 Terenzio on it occasionally. I guess that I just kinda'
adapt my casing style to suit.
