I talked to the contact person this morning and she said the number of tables that were required had been reached, and more completed forms were still coming
in. Bob, from flysupplies@yahoo.com will be putting up a post once he confirms the table count with the Holiday Inn.

Now that the show is going forward. Where should the show be advertise? The Holiday Inn suggested local news paper event calendars. That's locally.

Phil, once I hear from Bob, as to do with the table count, I'll put a post on the ORCA and fiberglass boards. I've also talked with one of the major
lure collecters and he will put hte word out.
Good morning Hal, I'll see you next month. We need to figure out how to keep this show alive, I can't see Langs being of any help as they were in the past. Bruce |

Bob is out of town, so you people can consider this as official. As per the Holiday Inn we have sold 31 tables, as of today, and that puts us well over the
required number. So the dealers show IS a go!!! The dealers will set up at 0700 and the show will open to the public at 0800, there will be NO early buyers as
there was in the past. There also is NO admission charge, that way you will have more money to spend at the show(g).
If any of you have questions, please get back to me, I'll help if I can.

Why is this not being set up on Thursday when there will be a couple hundred auction buyers on hand?

For me it is the work week.
But if you are retired it is not a bad idea. We should have advertising at that event. Phil |

Jeff, why in the world would you want to go head to head with the discovery auction? However if you think the days should be changed, and I think its a bit
late at this point. You need to take that up with Bob at flysupplies@yahoo.com, he is the person that got all this
started, and should get our thanks for saving the show. Now that I think of it, where were you when this first started up.

I'm back from an unexpected funeral in SC.
> Why is this not being set up on Thursday when there will be a couple hundred auction buyers > on hand? I love the easy questions. Because these "auction buyers" will be doing what auction buyers do. They will be in the auction, buying. Not at a dealer show. This was a problem with the previous Lang's format for dealers trying to make sales. A live auction competing with a dealer show. And since a discovery auction is uncataloged AND all day long, there will be even less incentive for buyers to leave the auction to go to a dealer room. Jeff, feel free to take a poll if dealers want to compete with the discovery auction. Put me down for no. I'll be doing what auction buyers do on Thurs. Will our free admission dealer show attract a crowd without Lang's live auction happening on site at the same time? Hell if I know. Most want to give it a try. Bob |

I'm not out to change a thing. My question about Thursday was simple enough, the idea being that since there will be hundreds of people there anyway you
could have spoken to Lang's and asked for a plug. Having attended the last 10 discoveries, and having been in 9 of the last 10 shows I'm familiar with
the show/auction conflict. In my opinion, everything was fine until Lang's went from a 1PM start to an 11PM start with their regular auctions, leaving
dealers with a whopping 2 hours plus of floor traffic. Going internet with the auction reduced the traffic even further and that sealed it.
The fact that I am opting out of this one doesn't make me a bad person. There simply are not enough things in the plus column to make it worth the time and expense for me. I don't agree with the timing or the place but for your sake, but I hope you all succeed anyway. Until I'm retired (like some participants), or I do this as a fulltime business (like some participants), or I live within reasonable commuting distance (like many participants), I will attend the discovery auction and take a wait-and-see position on the show. Absolutely no one sits in that room through over 1000 lots, taking 10 hours or more. With no show on Thursday I'll have to mill around and suck down coffee while I wait for something of interest to come up. |

Jeff, no one said you were a bad person. But think about it for a moment, if the continuous flow of the dealers show is interrupted for 6 months or a year,
it will be just that much harder to restart it. As to Langs giving us a plug, thats a thought, but I wouldn't count on it. But a big sign outside of the
auction room, in the hall might work. Do we have any sign makers out there??? At this point I have no idea how this is going to work out but I have 1 table and
as you know I'm not a dealer. However I think I have a few things I could put on it, perhaps just a display of old rods.

> The fact that I am opting out of this one doesn't make me a bad person.
Well it certainly isn't support for the "cause". Hopefully you can come up with some other way to encourage attendance? Spread some flyers around the shops in Maine maybe? I don't think Lang's would support us on Thurs. Why would they support a show that would pull bidder/buyers out of their room? Who could blame them? Not me. They did show support for our Fri Sat show by referring dealers that wanted a table. So you may be the smart person for not rolling the dice with us but, yes, you are bad! Unless there are good crowds. Then you are good. More sales for the faithful rest of us! Still time to get your table. (GRIN) Bob |
