Well, I have 3 BBC's on stands in my Garage and with the state of the economy/nation, I have moved away from rod buying. Just to busy buyings guns/ammo and working on the boats. Did pick up a 9' that is on the way. Should be done with boats by this summer and get back into rod buying................
My updated list, with the "unknown rod added" Since it is on the way, I want to be sure who made it... @ Ibookje & birddog
I appreciate your advice on the Orvis bamboo rods. I fish eastern streams (PA) such as the Yellow Breeches, Letort, and Falling Springs so four of my rods are 7ft and one 7.6ft. However, after reading your comments it looks like I should start looking for a Orvis Limestone Special 8.6ft, 2pc, 2tip, 6wt. Is this your normal Orvis 6wt. rod were it works best using a 5wt line on it? I don't remember seeing a Orvis Limestone Special for sale. I'm guessing they don't come up for sale very often....... I'm looking at fishing the West Branch of the Delaware River in the near future and I'm sure the 8.6ft rod would be much better than a 7ft rod. birddog, can you tell me more about the 4 3/4 Joe Brooks model made by Orvis. Thanks, Chief |

I started out collecting reels..... mostly fly reels ..... but it seemed that there was often cane rods available at the same time, so sometimes I bought them
too!
The ones in the photos are the nicer , complete rods.......... must have another 30 or so that need a tweek! One day, I'll sort out the ones that are worth repairing and do just that. Yup... one day
...........................Will it ever end? ............................... I sure hope not!!!
Here are some British made reels to go with those rods!

WatercolorMan wrote:Alan and Jay, The two shorter rods are similar with medium actions--the 6 1/2-foot model is the sweetest though and is probably my favorite of the four. The shortness of the one-piece model takes some getting use to, but once there it's a treat. I use both with DT5 line, although the 6-foot will cast a slightly faster DT4 nicely. They see service mostly on tiny, rhododendron-canopied mountain brook trout streams, and I couldn't fish many of those without them. The 7 1/2-foot model is a versatile basic trout rod with a nice medium action with a DT5, which is what I use. Unexpectedly, it handles a DT4 line and feels about the same with either line. In my opinion, it's about the design limit for the Superfine concept as it feels tip heavy without a fairly heavy reel to balance. I've been using it with a 3 1/8-inch Uniqua, but I'm planning on switching to a LRH Lightweight weighted with lead-core trolling line. It's my dry fly rod for medium and larger streams. It's a very neat rod and seems exotic to me. I just received the 7-foot model from forum member "Ted Golden", who is a great guy. Normally it and the 6 1/2-foot model are relatively easy to find, but it took about nine months of diligent searching by myself and forum friends to find it. Good fishing friend Spruce Grouse is demanding a finders fee for locating it... I had it out lawn casting yesterday and it has the
fast action Orvis claimed in the catalogs, which is what I wanted. It's nice with a DT5 but seemed underlined with a DT4. However, there were gusts to
about 30 MPH at the time, and I'll try the DT4 again on the lawn before I take it fishing. I really didn't need this rod as I already have a great
7-foot rod for DT4, but that one wasn't made in Vermont and I felt compelled to finish the set...
Best, Greg |

Very cool. I like seeing "complete collections" or "series" collections like this. Maybe a start of new thread as not to hijack this one.

Horton...here's a neat little collection of mint Amherst Co. rods. Great casting rods and some of the best wraps ever made. I am a huge Edwards fan and
I'd put these wraps up there with the best of them.
