Does anyone know of a reference guide or something to look up Hardy reels by serial number to see when they were made? Thanks! Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

It's by maker's initials, not serial numbers, but it's a start. It does have their employment dates, which would narrow it down a bit.

I guess I wasn't clear. Actually, I meant that the Reel Maker Directory on the listed website was set up by maker initials on the reels. I wasn't making any claims as to usefulness of serial numbers, only passing on the limited information that I had. That's why I only considered it a good start. I find it very peculiar that the rods were so documented at hardy's yet the reels seem to lacking or at least a way to date the reels besides the makers mark and our useful forum information of design dating. I did hypothesize that the names of the reels (ie. Perfect, St.*.*, etc) had a registered number associated to it and was stamped to the early reels, but this is only a theory and I would like to know what these early stamp #'s meant. Gary |
