Is the Medalist 1494DA considered a vintage reel? I've noticed from surfing around that they don't seem to be as sought after as other models.

DA are the latest of the American made Pflueger Medalists I believe.
The older ones are more collectable because of the metal latch plates, round line guards etc. Pete

The DA is Shakespeare date code for 1970. It was made from that date to 81, so if you consider older than 50 years as vintage, this is a "venerable"
reel.

Thanks, Bulldog: I noticed the bidding wasn't too heavy on the DA's. So, 50 years is what is considered vintage? I'm not up on that stuff. I just
like the idea of buying something from an era in this country when there was pride in building good products. I come from coal mines and steel mills--those
guys were proud men. Most of them took great pride in hard work.
