flyrod find.. |

Hello, Im not a collector or have any knowledge of old flyrods but i love fly fishing. The other day while helping my brother clean out a foreclosed house i
stumbled upon this fly rod,i have tried to look for it online and found only similar rods but none that look quite like the one i found. It looks like it has
been rewrapped and refinished and looks in good shape, no splits or any major problems. The rod tube says montague but the rods has no markings which i assume
could have came off before it was refinished.Im just curious what i have, year value etc. Thanks for any info you can give

In my opinion, your rod is not a Montague. I know that doesn't narrow it down much, but it's my 2 cents worth. Maybe someone else will recognize
the hardware on this rod.

That looks like an early H-I model I used to have- one of the higher dollar models, either a Vernley or a Hi-Test.
Chuck (cefishing) has a Vernley, and might be able to give you a good guess on the rod model. The ghosting above the winding check indicates that the hook keeper placement was part of a refinish. A lot of H-I rods didn't have hook keepers.
