Chris, Nice machine work. Tell me about the fancy cutterhead? Are those indexable carbide inserts on it? Jon

This is Forrest Maxwell's cutter. He left me one when he came down for the Great Western Rodmaker's Gathering last October. They are for sale, and do
a great job.

MOAR Beveller roughed strips | #5 | ||
|
Here are a couple of pictures showing what the MOAR beveller can do. 18 strips were straightened and nodes pressed. Then the strips, rectangles varying in
width between 3/8" and 1/4" were put through the MOAR. With the quick change block system, the 18 strips were put through in under 10 minutes. This
included changing the blocks out twice. Employing blocks rather than wheels produces this near-perfect edge:
These near-perfect edges are maintained from the beginning to end of each strip. Here is a picture of the out-feed end of the strips. Pay particular attention to the edges at the enamel/pith interfaces.
The edges are near-perfect from end to end on both sides. These strips finshed at .220" and when put in the forms had very little skipping with the plane. This set of 6 strips went from roughed to finished in less than 10 minutes. And they are 55" long! A couple more modifications on the rougher are in the works. Stay tuned. Regards, Chris |

That's a very impressive and creative machine. Great job. Without giving away any secrets, how do the blocks guide the strips into the cutter, is there a
groove or guide of some kind in the blocks?

I have made a couple of modifications on the MOAR beveler. The first is the addition of a teflon guide strip on the bed, and the second is the addition of the
depth gauge on the beveler to to gauge the width of the strip to the thousandth.
This is the bed of the rougher in the Bridgeport, getting cleaned up. I have posted the full story on my website at www.hollowbuilt.com as of tomorrow morning.
