A very poor picture, I admit, but this is my present desktop photo: one of the first dry fly brownies for the season 2007 (about 22"). Caught in Central
Finland during a stonefly hatch in late March.

Where The Columbines Grow | #64 | ||

A portend of things to come ...
Where The Columbines Grow Tis the land where the columbines grow, Overlooking the plains far below, While the cool summer breeze in the evergreen trees Softly sings where the columbines grow. In its fair Western home, may the columbine bloom Till our great mountain rivers run dry. "Don't surround yourself with yourself, move on back two squares" ~ I've Seen All Good People ... by, YES |

There are some beautiful places in the world. Can't say much for the average fisherman though. Need more of the female variety.

WLYBGR wrote:WLYBGR (& whatsleft2) , thanks for the kind words ... I'm far too unimportant a bloke to be copyrighting my pictures, so please use the photo as you wish. The rod is a 7-1/2 Montague Fishkill, restored to her present condition by (Denver) Dave Collyer ... and boy, is she a joy to fish! As whatsleft2 pointed out, the reel's a genuine 1594 that I acquired on a whim, by simply picking up the phone and asking a collector-friend back east if he happened to have any LHW Medalists. On my desktop PC is this
Taken on the Farmington River in Riverton CT... Saw the image and told Rolf Jacobsen I was going to get my camera, scrambled up the bank, placed my rod and net in the vehicle, rummaged for my camera, scrambled down the bank, composed the shot......... click. Rolf said "aren't you going to shoot more than 1 shot"? I said "nope", ended up winning the LL Bean Customer Photo Contest with the shot and it was in a catalog. On one of my laptops is this
My dog Levi asked to make a nature call and like all bird dogs he suffers from ADD, i.e. his desire to hunt gets in the way. He went on point at our gold fish pond and the above photo is what he was pointing at. I went back in the house and came out with tripod and camera, set up and shot the image, won a photo contest on the Bird Dogs & Doubles Site. The other laptop has a bald eagle flying off with a seagull clutched between its claws by the footbridge on the York River next to Barrells Mill Pond but I don't have it hosted anywhere...........

This would be better if there were a fish in the frame, but I'd actually have to catch one first
