Has anybody experimented with this? I was wondering if cutting back the tip a bit(18" or so) would improve short cast performance?
Thanks for any help.

Yes, it will.
Here's how I did it - cut off one foot of line, nail knot my usual Maxima loop and attach a leader, test cast with a fly on a local (unfortunately fishless) pond. Repeat as necessary until it casts the way you like it. In my case, three feet shorter did the trick. Kind of a pain to keep reattaching the loop, but IMO it's best to see how it works with a leader and fly. |

And I received the same advice from a Wulff rep in the late 1980's to do the same thing.
It is your line and some times you need to adjust them slightly to fit your style. but go gently and test cast frequently. Do as GrsdLnr pointed out. Top notch advice on the Wulff TT lines Jeff |

Fishing is not a matter of life and death; IT IS FAR MORE IMPORTANT! |

SEKG - not really, but a long cast on the creeks I frequent is maybe 30'.

Hey, I've trimmed most every TT line I've used... which has been quite a few. If anything it greatly improves long casts, and is my favorite line.
Trimming a few feet off the front ultimately puts more of the line out front on a cast leaving the much smaller diameter rear portion to navigate the guides.
It's a bit like a shooting head, but without all the awkwardess. (at least, shooting heads were awkward for me..lol). Yes, It undoubtably chages the weight
characteristics a bit, but if you have the resourses to experiment with trimming these lines.. you can really tune a rod/line combination to have an amazing
delicacy with distance. By the way, I posted a fun bamboo video I did with an old Granger Victory on youtube. www.youtube.com/billdeaton Best, Bill
