One of my very first bamboo rods was a 9' H.I. Roosevelt. The name alone was a big attraction, but the 186 tri-midwraps helped as well. I would start
with a 6 weight line and see what you think. That's pretty much the starting point for all generic 9' bamboo rods. Does the rod have a label wth silk
line recommendations? It should be good for nymphing.

Thanks for your one and only reply. Please explain 186 tri-midwraps,colors?arrangement?.Decal on rod is double diamond centered on "UTICA,N.Y."w/red
background,1929 to 1933 I believe.I don't want to go to too much fuss other than rewrapping a guide or two and adding some additional if it will help rod
performance.I've never fished bamboo and would like to experience same without breaking the bank or moving to the Catskills! Thanks for your gracious reply.

One of my Roosevelts had red midwraps tipped on either side with gold, so three unique wraps served as a 'midwrap' in their entirety. I recall counting 186 total unique wraps during the refinish. You could work with the existing guides and space one or two more between each and see if that will work for you. |

That's alot of silk. This Roosevelt has green bordered with orange with single orange midwraps and number a whopping 56! Cearly a low end production rod
but I think it will fish just fine as it was my fathers and fished the Pocono Mts in NE PA. Thanks again.
