Here's a 7242 - 84" total length 4wt. There are actually a couple of versions of this floating around, all of them (???) to my knowledge actually from Powell rods. The variations seem to be associated with the era they were built. If you want the others, write me. Mike Brooks

Thanks Mike!
The 7' 3'' is listed on canerod.com as a Walt Powell rod, but it´s probably a really nice rod anyway. Would be fun to semi-hollow it. |

Hi Ray.
Sorry to say I haven´t got around to make a Powell 7 footer yet as it´s been too many other projects. But it´s defenetly on my "to do" list. Glad to hear that you liked the rods you made. I´m also very pleased with that type of action in combination with semi-hollowing. I´ve made them from 7' 6'' to 8' 6'' and they fish very well. Sort of my "to go" rods and the 8 1/2 footer is the rod I´ve use the most since I made it as it fits the fishing conditions over here well. Did you make them straight slope B-tapers or did you use any taper listed from measured rods? // Mats |

Mats,
My first rods were built with straight B9 taper - hollowed (and they are very servicable rods). I just finished a 8'6" 5wt that has small adjustments for the ferrule and tip to reduced bounce. I don't have enough information to tell if the action is improved but it feels very nice. It weights just under 4 1/2 oz. Ray |
