how about this for an idea... im guessing this is what most of the salmon fly guys carry around ,
1 spool of light and 1 spool of slightly heavier line , very bulky , forever getting tangled and you always seem to pull the wrong one out of your pocket , also keeping that much line in your pocket means that its in there for ages and deteriorating all the time..
well here is my idea
the spools at the back are 100m spools , the spools at the front are half the thickness 50m , what i have done is glue 2 of the 50m spools together making it the same size as a 100m spool , i wind on 30-35yds of both lines onto a spool , so what you have is 1 spool with 2 weights of line on it , i have found that if i carry around a 100m spool the line at the end isnt in great condition when i come to use it , with this idea u only carry around a third of the line at a time while the rest is stored in more appropriate conditions until it is needed , also you got more room in your pocket and there are less tangles..it works for me anyway , the reason i need 2 line weights is because sometimes i use really heavy flies , whereas little doubles only need light line ..
