Picked this up today off of Craigslist for $300. What do you think? It is my first original Granger. All sections straight with no set. Not sure if varnish
is original or not. Very happy camper none the less.

Good looking rod! I love that Granger green. The 9050 is a great taper. Good price too. A lot of guys aren't man enough to handle the weight of some
of the 9' and 9'6" rods.
 (at least thats my usual
response when someone comments when casting one of mine) Balance it with a little heavier reel and it will fish like a dream all day long.
Life is too short for cheap scotch and plastic rods.

I fish my with a 3 5/8 perfect. I find the lightweigts a little well light for the longer rods. For a less expensive option the pfleuger's are great
too. Just not the rod to use your small stream reels on.
Life is too short for cheap scotch and plastic rods.

I fish my 9053 with a Pflueger 1595 1/2 reel with some lead core lin underneath the backing.

Nice rod and a great deal to boot!
The 9050 is indeed a fine trout rod, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Try a DT-6-F on it. I use mine with a 3 3/8" Hardy St. George. Other reels that will balance it nicely include the Heddon 125 Imperial and most any Young 3 1/2" diameter reel. The Meek 56 is another nice period reel for your 9050. These guys love Granger rods! I am with flyman a 3 3/8 Perfect or St George I like the old 1495 1/2 Idea too. one with the big round lineguard !
