Were there any good deals at Lang's today? Nothing struck me as an outlier in either direction.

Did anyone catch what item #1174 sold for?

I believe it was $950; sounds like Paul from the 'Lang's shipping' thread may have won this lot.

Yes, 1174 sold for 950. I tried to write down the realized prices as they went by live for most of the high end rods. Record price for an Edwards Bristol
rod--3200! Classic rods did well, many reaching or exceeding estimates. Some rods were down, of course. I'll try and post some of the realized prices later
tonight...

I believe this is the Edwards that went for that price. Better deals yesterday than today.
7 1/2' Edwards De Luxe Model #53 Trout Rod. An amazing find. This new 3/2 rod is unfished and still has the cellophane wrap over the cork handle. It has medium flamed cane, brown wraps with gold tipping, bright nickel silver ferrules and a walnut reel seat with screw up-locking hardware. All sections are straight and full length and the varnish is factory new. This is the ultimate rod for the Edwards collector. The white writing on the shaft has been protected from sunlight, so it hasn't faded to yellow as on most Edwards' rods. This rod comes complete with the original labeled bag and tube (without a label). |

My guess...from the description, it was a little misleading in that someone could have read it as being, and thought it was a EW Edwards and not a Bristol Era
Gene Edwards. The pictures even kind of look like an EW with the bakelite butt cap and the ferrules that were used on both EW and some Bristol era rods..
That said, the rod was a stunner...one of the nicest looking Edwards (any era) rod I've seen.

Whoops -- forgot about Lang's.
I knew there was something I was supposed to do today, besides go fishing. |
