A heartfelt plea from the cave to the members of the forum;
Please wear your life jackets as the waters are cold and dangerous this time of year. The local resevoir where I chase Crappie and pike and carp etc, was the site of a drowning 2 days after I was whooping it up on the crappie. Two fellows in a canoe where caught in bad weather and only one made it to the bank (He was taken to the local hospital and survived) . The other is still missing. They where caught in a sudden wind and snow storm and that resevoir can throw up 5 foot waves in a bloody hurry.
So there are many here that I have met and many more I still have yet to meet so please we all should vow to always wear our life jackets when boating as you never know what may happen.
There are many here I look forward to meeting and fishing with.
Humbly your gnome,
Jeff

preparing to turn on the back side into
the trough to quarter the next swell I was hit by a sudden blast of wind. The bow of the boat went up like a sail and came crashing down on the Front side of
the swell. I had lost the tiller because of the violence of the wind gust, the boat landed on its side, took in a lot of water but righted. I was dead in the
water, I had hit my head on the gunwal and was seeing some stars, the motor had died and I was broad side to the waves. I managed to get the engine started and
regain control. The entire episode lasted all of 30 seconds. It took you longer to read this post than that life or death experience lasted.
