Though I grew up watching what are now classics with my dad-in the 60's, I like Silverado alot. I'm a little embarassed about this, but does
"Quigley Down Under" count as a western? and "the Cowboys" with John Wayne (and Bruce Dern, if you can imagine : ) as the bad guy)
When I match wits with a trout, I usually lose...

Can't forget the cult classic Rancho Delux.
Stellar cast. Jeff Bridges, Sam Waterston (in a role he would probably rather forget), Slim Pickens, Harry Dean Stanton, Elizabeth Ashley, Clifton Webb... Montana @ 1973. Afly tying scene and a brand new McKenzie boat scene, and some great lines. "Cost us a rototiller...got beat out of a lot of value on that one" |

If you know where this line came from, you'd like watching movies at my house. |

My vote is for "The Searchers". It hits home with me as I have a great uncle, Adolph Korn, who was a captive of the Comanches in Texas for several
years. When he was repatriated as a teen ager, he wanted to go back to the Comanches, and never adjusted back to the "white" society.

I see Clint Eastwood's name come up on this thread pretty often and I would like to tell a Clint story. I have a friend who was in the Marines stationed in
California at the time Heartbreak Ridge was released. Him and some of his buddys put their uniforms on and decided to go to Carmel and have a drink at the
Hogsbreath Clint's bar and restaurant. He said that they hadn't been there ten minutes and Clint came in. He came right over to their table and set
down and ordered a round of beers for everyone. They spent the whole evening there drinking and eating and never spent a dime. Clint spent a lot of time
sitting and talking with them and was just a regular guy. My friend said that he was probably the nicest and most down to earth guy that he had ever met. He
also said that if you think he looks like a big guy on the movie screen that you should see him in person. He said that at that time Clint's biceps were as
big as his leg. I saw some pictures from that night and my friend is not a small guy ,but he looked pretty small standing by Clint. Anyway I just thought I
would pass this story along.

I am absolutely stunned that nobody named The Frisco Kid, with Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford (right after he did Star Wars). It is without a doubt the
greatest Rabbi/Cowboy movie ever made.

One-Eyed Jacks.
(Looked back over the balloting and saw that pmag beat me to the draw. Will you verify my vote anyway if I offer a credential? Deadwood is my place of birth. I nearly voted for Lash LaRue but couldn't remember the title of any film in which this consummate cowboy actor acted, or whatever it was he did.)
