My dad (pictured below) and a good friend named Jeremy Drumm and I where fishing a small private lake on the flanks of Grand mesa in 94 or 95.
When all of a sudden there was a major ruckus on the bank as a bull was being chased by a group of cowboys who where gathering up their herd that had been pasteured on this section of private land that has 3 lakes and a small stream.
Well they flustered this bull by trapping him up against the outlet for the middle lake to the lower lake and then they pretty well had him penned up against the edge of the lake when the bull decided to heck with this I will swim the lake and in he went
The bull gets out into the lake and discover's that he has made what could be a fatal mistake
as the lake is deeper and colder and alot farther across than he expected. He
was struggling mightily and only his head was out of the water as I finned up to him on my bronco with my Dallan Leather hat in hand, and you should have seen
the look on his face
I am sure that the thought that was going through
his mind at the same time was "Oh heck cowboys out here too" I turned him and herded him back to the shallows.
Once I had herded the bull back to the shallows he just stood there and it took a full 10 to 15 minutes for him to recover to the point that he would even move.
Whereupon the cowboys roped him and he went quite docily. Sorry no picture of that part as my buddy Jeremy Drumm had run out of film. RIP Jeremy we miss you
and we also make one wiggle for ya every year bro.
