No personal experience with the camera, but I've read a lot of discussions on it. Opinions seem to be almost 100% favorable with the only occasional
complaint being about the lack of an optical viewfinder.

Good fishing camera. Fits well into vest or shirt pocket, good waterproof point and shoot, the only issue that I have had with it is lack of view finder
drives me crazy, especially in sun/high light conditions. I just cant get adjusted to not having viewfinder

Bob, I had the older WP, I believe it was a 4 mp camera. It indeed was waterproof, but this W 60 goes way beyond the older one's waterproof capabilities. 2
hours at 13'- WOW! My old one had one of the best macro lenses I've ever seen. Incredible close ups for a point and shoot camera. I gave it to my son
so I would have an excuse to upgrade to the W 60, just hadn't got around to it yet! My Nikon D 80 is a great camera, but I have trouble getting it to fit
in my fishing shirt pocket!!

I read plenty of favorable reviews, so I bought one myself. I haven't taken it fishing yet, but it seems like a great toy.
The only complaint that I saw repeatedly was that in the movie mode, you can hear the autofocus feature in the audio. This does not matter to me. I just want decent pics from a camera that I don't have to worry about getting wet. |

I have been using one for about a year and couldn't ask for more. It fits my needs perfectly: waterproof, coldproof and shockproof. I have been very
impressed with the picture quality.

I have the earlier version and I think it's a great option for a fishing camera and a general use point and shoot. And, yes, the macro is unbelievably
good for the price. Some caveats: you need the custom rectangular battery (no AAAs or AAs need apply) and its battery life sucks, generally speaking, even
under normal use (no zoom or
); like other point and shoot digicams, there is a slight delay between your finger pushing the button and the shutter
actually closing so there is a very slight but noticeable delay in the picture beng taken; I had a problem with the plastic frontispiece coming off (bad
adhesive on seemingly unnecessary part) but doesn't seem to actually effect anything; low light shooting is not so great no matter what mode you are in.
Love mine, or at least used the hell out of it. C

I too have been using the older version for the last couple years and it has served its purpose. The two best things I can say about it is that it's small
and waterproof. I don't think it compares favorably with other point and shoots with a miserable small LCD that's hard to frame a picture with --
especially if the ambient light is bright. At times the shutter lag is too long as well. I've taken some nice shots with it nonetheless. Hopefully the
newer model is better, but I haven't researched it so I don't know.

I keep thinking about upgrading from my Pentax WR44 but I haven't read anything to say that what's new is remarkably better. Yes, it's only 4MP
and has a smaller LCD screen but I've taken some excellent photos with it, even when they're blown up, it's pretty easy to use and it has a
viewfinder which I would be hard pressed top live without.

Never had a Pentax. For point and shoot I use a Canon G9 it has a view finder, but it is not waterproof. I tried using a small waterproof bag but it was a
hassle. I finally got an Olympus Stylus 850SW it is small enough to fit in a pocket and can be used with one hand. I don't know if anyone makes a
waterproof point and shoot with a view finder. The Olympus has worked very well for me.

I have had the W30 -7.1 mp for a while now. one of four digitals in the house, and it gets used the most. great pictures, fits in a pocket so I have it with
me, It is the best of the pocket sized we have, I have a nice larger camera too, but it is rarely around when I need it, the Pentax is.

I bought an Optio W60 a few months ago to replace my old Canon that didn't survive a swim. I looked at the Optio and the Olympus SW models. The thing that
pushed me over the edge with the Optio was the macro mode. Apparently you can use manual focus in macro mode with the Optio, something you can't do with
the Olympus. I had a heck of a time with my old Canon getting the autofocus to work on flies, so I wanted something I could use manually.
The funny thing is that in the 3 months I've had it, I've yet to take any pictures of flies. But it's been great for the other shots I've taken. Battery life hasn't seemed to be an issue, and it has a reasonably quick shutter for what I do. |
