Buckeye bamboo Bash 09' |

Will be May 9th, 2009. We have changed the location to the American Legion Park, on the river, in downtown Bellville, Ohio. We gain parking, a vast lawn for
trial casting and river access to the Upper Clearfork at a popular stretch of the river. Bellville has a bunca' craft shops and nice eateries all within
easy walking distance (wife friendly), plus much closer to accomodations than the former Mohican State Park location.
Hope to see you there... R see www.bellvilleohio.net for CofC info. |

The BBB is a pretty low key but well attended single day event. Usually a couple rod makers but mostly just other "cane heads" who bring along their
favorite rods for show and tell. It is a great opportunity to cast up to 20, 30 or more different rods from makers past and present. Ron happens to be a
casting instructor so there is also opportunity to learn a few things. Good fishing nearby. If you live in Ohio and want the opportunity to cast a variety of
rods and tapers it is worth the trip.

YeeeeeeHaaaa! I'm back on line....
Bill, thanks, that worked. (My new computer came with Microsofr Vista...'nuff said) Andy, check your "E" mail... Voodoo, not too much more to say, we have a modest gathering, show n' tell, and the fishing is MUCH better in this area of the CF. Downtown Belleville is very wife friendly. Jeff, thanks.
Last year we had rods ranging from Spey to ~6' "crick" sticks, neat fishing accesories, and.....lots of fly fishing banter. The pavillion is bigger, the lawn is gigantic, and the access unmatched. A good excuse to see some new water... R |

I plan to be there. Been talking to a couple local fly shops in the Cincinnati area and they've had good things to say about fishing the Clearfork.
If any of you guys has fly recommendations, I'd be happy to hear them. Not sure what hatches will be occurring early May. Jim |

Jim,
No secrets, bring BWO's, Black Caddis, Olive Caddis, maybe a Henny or two for floaters, and if the @#%#@ Midges are on, a couple sizes (<#20). Sub surface the usual BH's, and GRHE's. If under the dark of night...big fuzzy's.. R |

I fished the clearfork Sunday in the Mohican park downstream of the covered bridge. The caddis hatch was prolific with a good number of BWOs to boot....I did
see a couple risers but expected much more given the insect quantity.....I skunked out but saw a couple guys having some luck on nymphs....the fish were small,
6 to 7 inches...
Saw a picture in a Cincy fly shop of a local doctor who caught a 36" musky in the clearfork last weekend....that guy sure had a surprised look on his face. |

Yes....it was. Surprisingly low turnout. A little windy...well, make that a lot windy, but many rods cast, and I know of at least one phenominal deal. The
Bellville American Legion put on a stellar feed which brought all activity to a halt for a short time.
Maybe some pics will follow. R |

I made the short trip and I'm glad I did.. Mr. Recker's rod's (and friendly personality) make the trip worthwhile. Ron are you the fellow that
let me test drive his short Recker 3wt?

Nope, but I did cast one that a buddy did buy there. I have one od Dons 38H's, which was on my table mounted with a Kusse/Mills, laying on an old Leonard
catalog with a pic of the same setup. Was impressed with the 3 wt's ability to go into the wind...which we had plenty of.
