Would be great if they could each step up to that keyboard and tell a story!

Stuart, I've been scratching my itch for 5 years now and it just won't go away! This shot isn't helping one bit.

Lots of ivorine in that picture Pat, have you tried fishing the Silex "Rolo"? If so, what did you think of its performance?

Don't know about Pat, but I lined up my Rolo and went out - to discover that there was a very subtle 'flat' worn onto the leading edge of one of
the rollers, which stopped it turning...so it was very difficult to guage the casting ability (or braking ability) of the reel. I've lined Chris Lythe up
to machine me two new rollers and fit them, at which point I'll try again.
The rollers must at some time have been available as replacements...that would be a nice find - a pack of rollers from Dingley, in one of those nice metal edged card boxes stamped Climax Works... Stuart |

Luckily, my Rolo may never have been used, or if so, never enough to show. Stuart, I wish I had a box of those rollers stashed away for you--I'd even send
a pair in the faded Climax box.
So, regarding the photo, just a few Dingleys shown here, all set out to play with on occasion. I use them like the old Chinese worry balls that you just roll around in your hands while cogitating. Or I pick them up to "reel in" while killing time on conference calls. They represent a nice spread in time--about 1912 to 1950. |

Stuart, let us know how the reel performs with the new rollers, it will be like stepping back in time. Pat, I think I read that it took three days for the
average reel maker to complete a Silex but it only took Dingley 1.5 days; I wonder how much of Dingley's time is setting in front of your monitor, one week
maybe? Nice bit of Dingleys time you have stored up Pat.

This is way too much fun! (not all Dingley...but a goodly percentage...)

Nice Dingley pic,s Pat and Stuart, Seeing the bunch of centerpins all in there places looks great .Nice collection Stuart. I have yet to get my hands on one of
them, although I,ve enjoyed them through pic,s on board. My itch for fly reels is bad enough with out starting on those beautys too,but no harm in looking
right. Daryl
