I need everyone's help on this one. While everyone has always had a good time here with boo, beer, barbeque and bs, it's time for a change. While we
old farts go live out the rest of our self-indulgent life styles (and why not?- eternity is knocking at our doors!) many young people have spent the first part
of their lives protecting us, and have come home from the middle east still young, but horribly hurt.
The Great Western Gathering's new format will serve a few of these deserving young people, with your help.
The initial plan is this: 6 Wounded Warriors, for six days. Learning to build bamboo rods. We foot the bill. Get em out here, put em up, feed em, teach em and send them home with a rod. On our dime. So far this has been the easy part.
The hard part has been finding anyone to help with simply finding potential candidates! I cannot get through to anyone at Walter Reed Hospital. No one from Project Healing Waters has returned any of my emails.
With your help, this could change. Could all of you email the Program Manager as well as your respective regional directors and tell them that we are legit? Let them know how great an experience rod building is. Please spend a minute to email David Folkerts and tell him what you think about the idea. If you have the time (please do) email your regional director of PHWFF. A cc to me of your emails will help me keep track of what is going on. ( My contact info is listed below.) The contact info is listed below for PHWFF.

I think if all of you make a point to email Project Healing Waters, as well as having a friend email them as well, we could really get something going here.
A good old friend is in the prostheisis business and is a great machinist. I think he could make it happen for guys that don't think anything good will ever happen to them again.
Please let us all stay positive on this, especially with emails to the people of Project Healing Waters. Let's send encouraging emails to them, telling them how great an opportunity this will be. And of course, any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. You can contact me at: chris@hollowbuilt.com
And thanks again for the help.
