I have been slowly practicing with my sample bamboo. I figure why not see If a rod can come out of it. I wound
up making a Leonard 8' 3 wt blank. Now the strips have been flamed and the pieces have been heat treated in my bamboo oven at 325* for 15 minutes.
The two tips that I am not going to use because one broke in the binder and the other is a bit flat for the last 4 inches, I have been testing them. If
I bend them like a fish would they stay bent. See photo. The other I bent until it broke. A strip had broke and then peeled right off. I can break it
and just peel strips off. See pic. I used Titebond II extend glue. The mid section has been done for a couple of months and it takes a set when you
bend it good. It is a shame because the last tip came out very good, no glue lines and the measurements were right on. But you bend it and it stays
bent. Could my glue be bad? I chose this glue due to the ease of use. I have ordered URAC though for the rest of my rods. Any ideas?
