wonderfull 3 1/8 brass faced perfect with the early 1896 check , with strap over the tensioner even has the ''1'' marked on the strap to match the rest of the reel ,spool & frame also marked ''1'' ,
the reel has the waisted pillers or some call bow tie pillers , nice ivory handle and brass tub ,spool has 6 cusp to it , reel even has alot of finish still on it , and the name that is engraved on the face plate is even nicer looking then the pictures that i first seen of the reel ,
i kinda like it as it gives the reel some character to go with the nice dark brass patina that is built up on such a old reel , still as smooth as the day hardy made it , not bad for a reel over 100 years old , i can't wait to catch a fish on it
already this morning i cleaned her up and put 75 yards of new backing and i have this special silk line i have been saving just for a reel like this , a Christian Billard whisper taper silk line in a 5 wt , going to be useing this on the new 8 ft special quad that i got from Tim Zietak , should be a heck of a dry fly outfit for the season

from ear to ear with this reel , i have never even
thought who might of owned it till now after reading quashes post , heck that even makes it better , how do you know such great info quashnet , i did a seach
just now on the net and nothing comes up
