Posts: 734 06/09/2009 02:29	Tags : None Thought everyone would enjoy seeing some of the history that slips through my hands privately from time to time. The new owner has given his graces to posts these reels for everyone's enjoyment! I'm sure some of you in the UK know quite a bit about these reels already. To give you an idea of the larger reels size just above that's a Hardy 4in St George Salmon reel next to it Photo taken for all to enjoy! Please feel free to comment or show your classic beauty! Thanks! Just for you Chris I opened a few up and also another photo of the St George Salmon reels for LuckyStrikeV. One reel is the very rare silent check! No comments on the large reel yet, no let me rephrase that giant WW reel, I'm surprised??? Nobodys landing any Shark these days I think the record on this reel is well over 800lbs. Now that's a reel with attitude!!! Glad you guys are enjoying this! I am blessed to be doing something I love and believe me it's not easy when these go out the door but the family comes first. My daughter is graduating on this Thursday with honors "had to throw that in" but she has earned it. I agree it would be hard to pass on the original Cascapedia Thanks for sharing Rick ! Mark B Something to consider: Be willing to share photos, information and the knowledge you have about your collection with anyone that has an interest in learning...........also share your knowledge to answer questions that others may have about items in their collections.........doing this will make you feel good and benefits this community ..................after all, what good is having knowledge that isn't shared. Posts: 84 06/10/2009 00:25	Holy Crap!!!!!!!!!! Rick Dude, those are about as rare reels as you will find anywhere!!!!!!!! Even though I'm more a rod fan I can sure appreciate the incredible beauty and one of a kind nature of those fine reels. Just holding those reels must have sent shivers down your spine. I would think that's what it would be like if one were to play catch with Babe Ruth's original baseball glove or Fly fish an original Dickerson 8014 Guide , etc. You get the point. I've got an old Robert Turnbull retailed reel with that feature, and some of the St George salmon reels are the only other reels I know of that used this design. Second, although I would only take 1 and 2 to keep, I should think the WW would retreive sufficient funds to obtain all the others, or nearly so. Third, I find it fascinating that on the first model there was a spring positioned apparently to keep the pawl both engaged and floating, similar to the 1912 check. Posts: 27 06/17/2009 04:44	What a lot of people may not realize is that the White Wickham is made completly from Monel metal making it salt water proof.This metal is very hard and difficult to work with.That reel is the rarest of the rare of Hardy reels.Monel metal was also used as the inner ring (ie outer case nickel inner ring Monel) on some of the line gaurds used on the Saint George and Perfect reels. Is that older Perfect - the one with the pierced columns - the model described as "the missing link"?
