no question, that is a Young pattern 8

I also have a reel marked "Louvre Paris" and wondered who made it and where it was sold, so am glad to see this info. Mine is a bit different - it
has a delicate red agate that is not fixed in a single spot along the rim, but rides in slots in both rims so that it can move in an arc along the rim as you
change the angle of pull when stripping line.

Real London, Wow, fascinating pictures. Was the store part of the museum or somehow related? Looks like it in the photo, and was located on the same street.
Thanks for the info & photos.

You might find your reel in one of these pre-wwII catalogues http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/grand-magasin-au-louvre-1935_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ200341470889 http://cgi.ebay.com.my/grand-magasin-au-louvre-ete-1926-AE-marty_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ200319045100? Reeldane

Hi 16 pmb, This store was not as far as I know part of the museum complex, It sold high end top quality goods like
Harrods in London. Do you think your reel is JW Young? any chance of a photo. Cheers & good health

real london wrote: It's a Young pattern No. 8 as Bulldog stated, and it was in their 1925 catalog according to Rupe Attwood's new book - and it was in production for quite some years - at least to- and possibly beyon WWII - so you reel could very well be in both these catalogues. Reedane |
