Who make quadrate hollowbuilt using Powell method, scalloped, not fluted like Winston? I know Brandin and Raine, but there are other? Maybe Karstetter? Thanks,
Sergio

Marty Karstetter doesn't make quads. Mike Spittler makes hollow quads, but I'm not sure what method he uses. Also, his 2-piece rods are hollow in the
butt only. I think the 3-piece models are hollow into the mid section.

Chris Carlin builds quads, and he uses scalloped hollowing, so I'm assuming he could/would build one.

Has this method been part of your consideration?

I think Bill Taylor makes HB Quads. I've never cast them but hear good things.

Yep, Harms. Note to self: duh! | #7 | ||

I was just casting one the other day. Also, I'm sure Zimny and Wagner could if they don't already.

Pretty sure the Harms rods are all hollow fluted, rather than scalloped. However, I also hear they are phenomenal, I haven't had a chance to cast one.

Erik Peterson of Linnéa Rods makes hollow-built quads. They are radically hollow-built all the way through the tip.

Thanks for the advices. Harms rods are very good but I think fluted hollow, as maybe C.Carlin. I did'nt know anything about E.Peterson, are his quadrates
new? At the moment I am more interested in scalloped rod as with this method it is possible to do also an internal taper. I would like a Brandin rod, but.....

SergioGe wrote:According to what I know and looking at his website ( http://www.wmharmsrods.com/articles.html#flute ), Bill Harms' rods are hollow fluted using Winston-type fluting. Builders, such as Bill, who use a Morgan Hand Mill would be able do an internal taper with Winston-type fluting. It would probably add to a rod's cost due to the need to reset the MHM's anvil for the internal taper. Tim |

Seattle,
The Firehole has been fishing great I hope to hit it today. The cool weather and showers for the last three weeks have made for great hatches of PMD's and BWO's plus caddis are starting to show but the caddis will really get going once it warms a little more. Dennis |
