My beer distributor gave me a case of Dale's Pale Ale as a sample. He told me that it did in fact come from CO. I willfully accepted the gift and quite
abruptly consumed it. As I recall the libation in question had a rather high alcohol content. The flavor was not to shabby. I must agree, I just love the
fact that it is in a can.

This beer thing has become quite complicated since my teen years in Milwaukee. We called it LPR (can't tell you what that means-don't want to get
banished), and had Schlitz, Miller, Pabst and Blatz. None of that expensive stuff from out of town. 99 cents a 6 pack, and off to the drive in.

Cold Smoke in cans available in selective and obscure areas of Montana populated by highly selective consumers of malt beverages.

Pete,
One of the participants along bamboo row at the Denver FF show in January brought along a series of beers from that brewery. I want to think his name was Zach?? |

Zach Matthews?
Funny, there is an article in today's Washington Post's Food section on small breweries that are "bottling" in cans. Mentions Oskar Blues and its Dale's Pale Ale. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/06/16/AR2009061600881.html. |

No Spruce, not my friend Zach Matthews. Another Zach. Younger than Matthews, and from the front range area.

Harry, the Zack you are referring to is Zack Sexton. He is writing a book on Cutthroat trout fishing and Oskar Blues sponsors him. The Dale's Pale Ale is the best beer that they make in my opinion. If anyone is coming to the Colorado Cane Conclave in August, Oskar Blues has a restaurant - brew pub in downtown Lyons. Gary.
Like a salmon, I need a river to take me home.

Schmidt... with the trout on the can. The cans with the pheasant are a little gamey.

I was just going to reply, but Gary beat me to it. I would just say that the Colorado Cane Conclave will be held in Lyons on Aug. 2. Be a good opportunity to
check this beer out. The Conclave is working out to look like a super fun event. Thanks to Gary, Mike Clark and Kathy.

Scary coincidence?!? | #14
|
Did anyone else spot the guy pictured in that Washington Post article Spruce Grouse is referring to WEARING WADERS??? It certainly looks as if he has his feet
in a pair of felt sole boots and hanging them over a stony bottom clear creek. Just a coincidence??? Confused, Andy

Yes, that's right. Porkslap. Made in Butternuts, NY. There's a farmstand by me that has a beer distributorship in the other half of the building. I stop there regularly and buy a different beer every time. I saw this one, and had to buy it, just for the can. At $5.99, I was sure the beer wouldn't be good, but I had to have the can. Porkslap - $5.99 Porkslap was the best beer I've bought yet from there. A very good beer. Gotta love the can, tho. |

If any of you get to N. H. try Smuttynose IPA.

Whoa! Time out for an urgent question. | #19
|
Is it all right to start with Dale's Pale, then to
work my way up or down the list, depending on the position from which I'm reading it? |

As a rule of thumb or more correctly stated, based on the color of my neck, I ONLY drink beer from a can and liker from a jar.
