Evening all,
I expect you get a lot on here saying they have just inherited this or that - and i am one of those.
Keen fisherman myself, both course and game fishing, but all of my tackle is modern - until recently.
I have been given a collection of various items, Abu lures, hundreds of flies and boxes, Allcocks, Hardy's and DAM reels- and about a dozen spilt cane rods of various manufacture and state of repair.
within this collection are two Hardy's rod i am seeking any information on, as i am having trouble identifying their age. I have looked a various listings of serial numbers, but cannot find these two.
Rod 1.
In rod bag - 3 piece 17ft 6" rod. Has red bindings all the way up the rod.
Marking:
On plate by reel seat "Hardy's W fitting reg 16.8.73"
where rod meets rod handle engraved "RH From EH"
On end of rod "patent steel centre" and "Hardy bro's makers alnwick - 6043"
In bag, also has extra very short tip. This looks like it may turn the rod into a beach caster.
This rod has been used - handle is worn, but remainer of rod is first class.
Each section has a threaded ferrul connection.
Rod 2.
in rod bag - 3 piece 10ft 6" rod. Has black/dark green bindings all the way up the rod. Two differant tips.
Marking
On plate by reel seat "Hardy's W fitting reg 16.8.73"
On end of rod "Hardy bro's makers alnwick" and the number 64202 on it.
On other side has in very faint marking "Hardy's Pat" and then the number whihc is too small for me to read.
This rod is in immaculate condition.
Again, each section has a threaded ferrule.
Any information, especially on the age would be gratefully received. As I said i have looked at the numbering system but it baffles me!
Greta site - thanks in advance and tight lines all!
