I stopped counting about 10/15 years ago when the number went over 100 - all but a couple made or retailed in Aberdeen (Scotland) date range 1820's =>
1980's, 2" => 6", Brass => Aluminium. Thing is I keep finding new stuff I need... very interested in post war Sharpes (=> Farlows) at
the moment and now I have to find the newer Montieth, Brook, Don & Trout reels and a Lee Wulff Ultimate

Richard,
You have a lot more than I do, so don't go feeling better so quickly. I'll have to have a talk with your wife when I'm there and help you trim down your collection (especially any LHWers) in the interest of parity. I think the International Fly Reel Proliferation Treaty states that Canadians can't have more Dingleys and Hardys than Americans. You might be
finding Hillary Clinton on your door step some day.

Have forty or so reels and fish them all, but I will be selling some of them. Man oh man, I love fly reels.
Hillary would insist that the fish bite her fly and they surely would. |

What the hell was I thinking, I just went and did a quick count and came up with 45 fly reels. Mostly from across the pond - 18 or so Youngs, 8 or 9 Dingleys,
5 various Hardy's, some Heatons and others along with a few American made reels. I don't feel so bad seeing how many others of you own, but having
counted them sort of makes me squeamish. Don't really know why we all like these things so much, but it sure is fun isn't it? Anyone have any you want
to part with?
A couple photos of display. Oh, and I like to fish
the Young 15A red agates a whole lot...something about them. Greg

I'm not sure 75 is setting the bar high enough. . . . . . I keep thinking I could live with less than I once owned.
Sold a lot of reels but then just bought different ones. |

2 new hardys , ok what are they , and you don't have enough reels wilf i see , you have a long way to get to that 75 , take your time , and in truth so everyone knows , i was a sick puppy awhile ago , i had close to 70 dingleys alone and then i had alot of other makers reels , i let a big bunch of them go , kept some of my rare red agates , moved some to raise some coin to get some hardys for my collection , but as of now ''' i'm not a sick puppy'' thats why i said 75 lucky woof woof , no help for you at all , even with shots and a flea collar , to save yourself you need to step up and face the fact and seek help from , i think dr phil could maybe help you

I was referring to the mint unused St. John and "JS" 3 3/4 inch salmon Uniqua I already mentioned in the "Got a new reel" thread, but
weren't added to my total yet. I'm going with the flow while collecting, still only buying what I like and can afford at that particular moment. To me
now 75 reels seems like an awful lot, but I can see me getting there eventually. It's such good fun!

teter I think 175 to 200 is about right.
So if you use each one of your reels each year that would be about the right amount of fishing. I'm going to need some more rods to keep the 2:1 balance that Bulldog suggested.
