Last July (2008) at Colorado Rodmakers Reunion, we had the chance to measure the following original Dickerson rods:
661510 special
7011
8012
8014 Hollow
9016.
We Mic'd them every 2-1/2 inches, all 3 flats, then Ralph T entered them into a spreadsheet that smoothed the curves between points and interpolated measurements for every inch. That way you can use the taper with the Howell method (starting from the butt) or the "normal" way, measuring from the tip.
We measured ferrules, in case you want to replicate them, and we noted guide placement as well as style of reelseat and grip.
The tapers are available in .pdf form here: Colorado Rodmakers Reunion Click on the blue "Dickerson Tapers" button.
For those who are interested, I know for sure that the 661510, the 7011, and the 8012 have been made in the ensuing year and will be available for casting at this year's CRR (which will take place on the western slope of CO, July 17 and 18.)
All the best,
Lee
I think I corrected the erroneous link (HarryB)

). What we DO
know is that he chose to put intermediates on the rod, presumably as reinforcement, which of course wasn't standard procedure for his rods. It's just
speculation on our part, but was he maybe not fully confident in the sturdiness of the hollow-built, himself, without the addition of intermediates?
