Posts: 136 06/29/2009 14:09	Tags : None Thanks to Fisherman911, I have my cork reel seat and handle. I was originally going to take the top and mid from a Heddon Black Beauty and make a 6' midge rod out of it since the butt section is shot and not repairable. But I also have a SB 359 with 2 tips that I'm not currently fishing. I was surprised to see that the SB tip and mid made for a better casting midge rod when attaching some line to either setup and casting on the lawn. So I'm looking for a guide spacing chart for a banty made from the mid and tip of the SB 359 as well as guide sizes. I'm not sure whether I'll use the old guides from the rod as they were not very many on the rod to begin with and I will want to add a few additional guides. Also, I have the original agate stripper but it appears to be a very narrow diameter(about 5/32 ID). Have any of you use this for a modern line? Sorry for sounding like such a novice. The last time I refinished a bamboo rod was about 6 or 7 years ago when I was really into restoring. I just enjoyed fishing what I had made but now getting the itch to start on a project again. Posts: 87 06/30/2009 01:43	Worst case you can tape some guides to the blank and place a sinker on the end of a fly line. Lift the sinker into the air and look at the line as it goes through the guides. If the line has a large angle at any one guide then move it closer to the next up the rod and if necessary add an extra guide lower down.

Posts: 1711 06/30/2009 08:04	Here you can have a program calculate the spacing for you. http://www.hexrod.net/ Measure down from the tip top to the bottom of the butt ferrule. This is where you want to place your stripper.. your rod is too short for the index to be the 6th guide, or you would have 2 guides on the butt. (should be about 36 1/2" or so) enter the number of guides as 7, enter the index guide as 7 , enter the dimention of where your stripper guide will go, and press calculate. http://www.bamboorestorations.org

I did have my dental rubber bands spread out on the table but was sure there was an easier way to get to the starting point.
