So I'm back from using my silk line for the first time. Together we -- the line and I -- caught 14 fish, all Rainbows, and it unrolled and floated
perfectly. Now I'm drying it on my Struble dryer. As I do with any line, I first ran it through a damp microfiber towel. An aside: microfiber towels will clean everything thoroughly. Try wetting one and running it over a cork grip. You'll be amazed at
how much dirt is removed. It's 100% safe; I'm a professional rod builder and I use it all the time on rods costing well over $1000. Then I
wound it back onto the reel through the microfiber cloth a second time. Once it was clean, I proceeded to the drying step. Since all the fishing was done
within 25 feet (leader and tippet included) is there any need to dry more line than was on the water? I'm using a Struble dryer and crisscrossed the wraps
so that there is maximum exposure of the line to the New Mexico air (which will dry anything!) Am I doing things correctly?
