Surely this topic has about run out of steam. If not, let's all guard against getting personal--however erudite and/or however polite we may be. Thanks.

Hey, Tigers. And I mean all of you. This thread has been amazingly courteous, particularly given the subject. But I worry when I start reading phrases like,
"offensive and impertinent" and, "Good day to you Sir," which is, as I read the post, a bit of red flag waving done very politely.

No discussion of handguns would be complete without the mention of one of my favorite scenes from "All in the Family". It goes like this:
Gloria: Daddy, 90 percent of the people murdered in the last ten years were killed with handguns. Archie: Would it make you feel any better if they were pushed out of a window? |

I agree that this discussion has been pretty cordial. It's just lucky that nobody on this forum supports the right to arm bears.

BTW, I can discuss things civilly and respectfully. Good day to you Sir was not meant to convey anything other than we agree to disagree.

My fishing buddy is slower and fatter than me so thats the bear problem undercontrol.
.
I don't carry a pistol in water but I do have my K-bar on me and there's a couple of guns in the truck. I had a work colleague murdered a few years ago by some scumbag so I am a lot more weary of people than animals. |

They all brought to light difficult issues facing us as a Nation. I think both the truth and satire of those characters was good for the dialog of the country. Archie had good points and bad points, just as each one of us.
