A couple more. | #61 | ||

I am really enjoying this thread. Here are a couple of tiny reels I haven't seen here. The one on the left is stamped Leonard-Mills on the face plate at
4 O'clock. The spool diameter is about 2 15/16" and has three large holes in the foot. The one on the right is stamped on the face plate 4 Brothers
Delite and 40 on the foot.

what a charmer!
every year they make fifty of this style but with subtle differences so each year is unique.
Never been lined - a pity of sorts.

Here's one you rarely see ...a revolving handle plate reel with raised pillars. This one measures 2" (without pillars).

Just realized the *Wells reel might fit, 2 1/2" diameter and 5/8" spool width, does it qualify ?

Cool *Wells reel !
Unlike any I have ever seen ! All of the Wells reels I have seen are of aluminum, have raised pillars, a full handle, a hard rubber click switch on the back and are obvious JVH made reels. This one is very different! I'd love to see a picture of the back. Is there a makers mark on that beauty? I noticed you called it a *Wells ...is that your way of saying it is Wells-like, rather than an actual Wells? Inquiring minds want to know.

Definitely 2.25 inches from outside of frame to outside of frame - just measured it again.

I agree, that is a Heaton reel. In addition to the foot, the checkwork is characteristic.

Ken:
Is this reel a Young? It is identical to my little J. Austin Forbes 2 incher. I use it with my Baby Catskill that will only accept a reel with a 2" foot. Is it possible that Young makes these for JAF or is it simply a copy?
