I've just read pieces here and there my Dana Lamb, and most of the first two columes that Meadow Run reprinted. Has there been a complete workds of Lamb
done - or any in the works? Just curious. Also anything that anyone can tell us about Mr Lamb would be appreciated. I do know he was a broker in NY, fished
the Catskills and Adirondacks as well as Canadian Salmon Fishing and was a member/one-time Presendent of the Anglers' Club of NY...... and had really had a
nice way with words...........

Creaky, I'm a big fan of Mr. lamb also. I always have one of his books on my nightstand to reach for before bedtime. It would have been grand to have
fished during the time period that he wrote about. I have all but two of his books. I have never been able to find out very much about him also.
I also wish someone would write something up about him. Barry. |

Ahh... Dana Lamb, I've managed to acquire all his books and they are without a doubt the most frequently read books in my collection. I as well as other
forum members have discussed his writing in the past. Perhaps you can search the forum. In the Meadow Run reprint of "On Trout Streams And Salmon
Rivers" you will find a introduction written by his children about their father and again an intro in "The Fishing's Only Part Of It"
written by Schweibert. Bob

His books are some of my favorite angling books. I have a few of them, and am always looking for more to add to my small collection. To the best of my
knowledge, there are nine books:
On Trout Streams And Salmon Rivers Where The Pools Are Bright And Deep Bright Salmon And Brown Trout Beneath The Rising Mist Green Highlanders And Pink Ladies Some Silent Places Still Not Far From The River Wood Smoke And Watercress The Fishings Only Part Of It Are these the only published works; looking for someone more knowledgeable. |

Wow, after reading the list by Dave I remembered I don't have all the books "Some Silent Places Still" and "Sporting Etchings" I was
determined to have all his books but a couple fly rod purchases has put a hold on that for now. Bob

Gregg - its actually "Sporting Etchings by A.L. Ripley (not Scott), commentary by Dana Lamb. I agree wholeheartedly that its a wonderful coffee table
book; I'm looking at 4 of the etchings in the book that are on my wall as I write this. I'm a huge Ripley fan (and of sporting etchings in general as
well).

Nice thread! I'm another fan of Dana Lamb. A couple of notes--
* I recently found a nice (VG-EX in somewhat torn DJ-Winchester Press 1973) First Edition of "Where the Pools are Bright and Deep". Illustrated by the incomparable Eldridge Hardie. If interested, drop me a PM. I already have one copy, but I can never pass up a classic like this one. * I'm also sitting here looking at an original etching by A. Lassell Ripley entitled "Point on Quail". Signed and near mint in original mat and frame. Paid $20 at a local antique shop. Mr. Ripley is another of my favorite sporting artists.

I'm not aware of anything like this in the works. I know there were several things that he wrote in the Angler's Club Bulletin, and there are probably
other items in the works that never got published before he died. The Atlantic Salmon Journal Spring 1986 had an article about him which may have additional
information of interest to you.
As an interesting aside, I got a (nonauthored) cookbook a few years back that he put a humourous gift inscription in, and only signed it 'D' |
