Have just acquired a Orvis/Salmon Battenkill 9' 7oz #29294.It is not listed in Greg Reynolds Orvis Database. How can it be added to the list?

I'll probably post an updated database in the late spring--#29294 will be on it.
Thanks... |

Thanks Greg !The info I have so-far is that it's a Battenkill/Salmon 3/2 9' GBG.Serial # 29294,Reid/Skinner,built 2/10/61.The rod is though
,9'4" assembled with the 6" fighting butt.It is very minty, though it looks to have been fished once or twice.

Hello Craigspey,
Does your Orvis Salmon rod have Atena Foul proof guides. I picked up an Orvis Salmon rod and fished in salt water taking bass, blues and albies. My guide is 29 years old and asked what kind of rod is thatr. Remember he was brought up on graphite. He tried the rod and said. "I have to get one of these abies - I love it." Wishing you the best in fishing Orvis Salmon rod. |

Hi! B52 Haven't a clue
.How can I tell ? The rod is ready to go
with a near mint JW Youngs 4" Pridex made 4/64.This is lined with a new GBG that was unfinished when I got it. More like a GB because it"s only 25yds
of a 40 .Really long FT 3' tip,12' taper.Free is free !Will be looking for a nice Hardy & maybe a Ultra4 too .All will make a fine small wet & dry set-up .

Orvis Shooting Star and some salmon rods used big guides that look like spinning rod guides. I really believed this is the way to go in fishing long lines and
having fun.

Atena guides! | #6 | ||

Hi! B52 looks like there not.
They seem to be that of a trout bamboo, but
on a larger scale.Being this rod is rated GBG/(DT8) may be the reason. Are the Atena guides on WF rated rods?

With minor exceptions, I've only see Aetna foul-proof guides on Shooting Stars made before the mid to late 1960s. They were the standard guide at that
time.

Looking for a Hardy to put on this rod.Must have room for a DT8 (GBG/#5 SALMON)& LOTS of backing.Thinking Marquis Salmon #1 alloy foot. Also seen a Sharpes
4" /wide "Perfect" clone.
Will be checking this 1out.
