Yeah, there are several male members on this forum.
Sorry... someone had to do it.

Here's the downside of this poll. The software doesn't allow us to see how many actual votes have been cast (shades of Iowa). We can see the number of
"views," but that's not indicative of votes.
So we may have 10 guys who voted, and one woman. Or 30 and 2. Who knows? But I thought we could run this for a few weeks. I'll periodically give it a bump up. And we'll get a rough idea of at least who is active this month. |

If you're using Internet Explorer you should be able to click on a bar in the graph and get the actual number of votes followed by the percentage they
represent.
With Firefox, you only have to move your arrow/pointer over a bar and the actual number of votes should appear. At least, that's my experience.

As for me, useful has always been questionable, and innocence isn't even a consideration. I would, however, be interested in how many members, male and female, have tattoos, fishing or non-fishing, and whereon. I have Tonka Prince tattooed on my . . . Never mind.

I remember that poll well Bill, but it all fell apart when we ran into folks who wanted to respond "tattooed while being circumcised and "circumcised
while being tattooed". I recall it being labeled the Bris and Ink Debacle of 05. Oh the horror!

Working in a rod shop for 10 years, in a male dominated industry, I believe I've heard just about everything. However, I think that this is a good poll to
bring to light that there are women here. I've have read posts here that verged on being offensive and insensitive to the fact that women do frequent the
forum. As moderators we try to determine how posts will effect different opinions, nationalities, and any negative remarks about other members, makers,
dealers, etc. We need to be more aware that there is another group spending $$ in this industry and taking up space on the water. But while we're being
sexist ~ I can probably out fish you, probably not kick your arse, but still look better in a little black dress.

Currently the tabulation is at 46 to 3. In my life experience if this were an election or other vote process it would be a tie with there being no doubt who
the final winner was going to be.
With a 37 year career in the nursing
field plus a strong & happy marriage I always accede to the PINK POWER block and have never regretted doing so. If it wasn't for women all of we guys
would have died of dirtiness, food poisoning or stupidity by age 20.

Never wishing to actually disagree with a member of the fairer sex, I shall answer Ms Pink's three closing points in the same manner I have been trained to
respond by Ms Gofish after almost 48 years of marriage, 1, probably, 2, maybe, and 3, definitely, although that becomes a very personal matter and some of the
guys I've met out there may not think they'd look all too bad in that black dress.
BTW, she is right about the occasional offensive comments, however, in defense of my fellow male flyfishermen, we sometimes forget that there are ladies present, and the stag night mentality surfaces. For my first ten years in the Air Force, I was always assigned to a fighter squadron, a male bastion, where there wasn't a female in sight, and the atmosphere was that of a stag bar. Then, one day we got a new records clerk, a pretty little 18 yr. old. It was amazing how quickly the crude language and rude male only behavior slowed and eventually stopped, although she was very used to hearing "#@%$#%*&$#@ it, oh, sorry Diane, forgot you were here". gofish |

I worked for many years in an aircraft engine factory, also a male dominated industry. But there were also a number of women. "Betty Bullard" - no
lady she - had a mouth as foul as any you're likely to encounter. Don't know about fishing, but I have no doubt she could kick my butt. I will refrain
from speculating about the prospect of "Betty" in a little black dress. Noblesse oblige.

The Pink Panther wrote: The last was never in contention, Pink. Outfitted in black, I resemble Hopalong Cassidy. And I always bow before vigilant keepers of moderation. That
this poll has underscored there are women on the Forum cannot be denied. We will no doubt turn to it often for its usefulness in that respect. But
just how many women and of what sensibility as makers of rods, fishers of fish, or spenders in the industry we likely never will learn. You're safe with
the assumption you can outfish me. I've pretty much given up contests and don't even bet on much else but baseball, in which field my notable
victories over The Big Gator, Cloozoe, speak for themselves. If some comment here has affected adversely woman, child, man, or any sensitivity; some product,
profession, or political persuasion; a particular race or nationality, then the person or product or pursuit is probably either too thin-skinned, too
vulnerable, or too dour.

In the waltz I not only can lead but can expertly follow, albeit not in heels or a little black dress. I also can manage either gender role in any number of
unusual folk dances, especially traditional Swedish turning dances, such as the hambo, the polska, and the snua.
YOU: What's a snua? ME: I don't know, what's-a-snua with you? I have fished with many women who are expert fly fishers, and long ago was married to one who owned her own bamboo rods, maintained her own gear, tied her own flies, and caught fish as well or better than anyone. Fly fishing as an activity is remarkably free from specific gender requirements. |

Sandy Mite wrote: Staying civil in discourse here is paramount, don't be too sure you won't be hurt by insisting you are who you are and drive wide and to the right
of Sandy Mite. Offering information, exchanging ideals, even good natured disagreements all rally around the truest form of civilized social discourse. To
denigrate any being by nature of their gender, the content of their posting or otherwise acting in a manner of incivility is juvenile, self serving, and quite
frankly unwarranted. So rather than the membership having to dance on eggshells around Sandy Mite mayhap Sandy Mite might find the time to play by the rules,
if not I'm sure there is somewhere where likewise individuals meet your personal requirements.

We all need reminding that there are ladies present. Even as un-PC as I am I was raised to be a gentleman. Sometimes that slips by when I'm not expecting
ladies in the neighborhood. It has nothing to do with PC, but a heck of a lot about being civil to one another.
Remember, on this forum its not about me, me, me... it's about us. PERIOD Ralph |

With due respect and IMHO, you have and continue to "kick arse" in both good and deserved ways on this here Forum. And for that and much more, I tip
my hat to you! (I really hope you don't mind.)
I, for one, am glad you, and others of your gender, put up with us card-carrying Neanderthals. As for your statement about the Little Black Dress...truer words have never been written. Best, Flyman

give up your man card, just go with the flow once in awhile.......
