The reel is perfect for what I need, and has a far more robust clicker drag system than any of my Hardys. Can't wait to get it out on the river.

I recently found this NIB JW Young 1535, and bought it to use with one of my spey rods. I was disappointed to find the reel foot was too large to fit the reel
seats on any rod I own. I checked around and ended up chatting with Bill at One-Pfoot, who offered to replace the reel foot for far less than any other shop
I'd talked with. He machined a new one, installed it, and had it back on my doorstep six days from when it was mailed from Oregon. Thank you, Bill!

Great reel. Tonight, I lined up a 3-1/2"MW version marked for Thames Tackle Ltd., Mucilin Brand.
It's nice to have Bill back making parts for us. |

I own most of the 1500 series and particularly the 1535 and 1540 for my Two-Handers. They fit a Diamondback 12'6", a 13' and a 11'6"
Rainshadow, a T&T 1409-3, the Redington line of speys and an Orvis 15'er. What rods were you not able to fit them to? I have never heard the complaint
that a 1535 or 1540 wouldn't fit a spey rod,, and there are quite a few lads who run with them on the bigger rods.

Hardy Guy,
I tried it on a Sage VT2 7130, a Sage 9140, and a Sage 6126. I also took it to a local shop and tried it on some TFO, T&T, and CND rods with the same result. My understanding is that certain vintages of those Young 1500s had an oversize reel foot, and I was unlucky enough to find one. Mike |

Here's my Mucilin No. 200
It has the old style spring and pawl with the new fine-toothed drag gear - I love this reel. |

Nice reel bulldog - what did you use for the backing on this one ?
Wonder if we could get Mike T. to post a photo of the innards of his reel ? It would be kind of neat to see... I bet it looks just like a tiger inside. Brian

Here you go, Brian. I love the degree of adjustment available, from light to very strong. And it's LOUD. Just the thing to annoy my
partners....
