One of the best books in all respects I've purchased in the past 10 to 15 years.
Well worth the $$ and an instant classic IMO. Regards, Flyman

Stony Creek Rods, the publisher, but I don't have their website handy.
You should be able to Google them. Good luck! Flyman

Terrific book. Lots of great historical information, interesting photos and way better written than most non-fiction fishing books.

Routta,
Well said, but it's not a well written little book...it's a well written big book with lots of wonderful illustrations by Kim Melema and superb historic photos of Marinaro, Fox, Jimmy Carter, Tom Maxwell, Rick Robbins, Frank Thompson...and a veritable callibaetis hatch of other folks we know and love. Besides that, it's a remarkable book about a remarkable individual...and written by my dear friend, Bill Harms. |

Excellent book, written with fine style. FFM review of it pathetic; does not do it justice. Doubt reviewer read it.

Bob, Are you speaking for all Bohemians in your book review? If so, I'm returning my official Bohemian
membership card (which also doubles as a Guaranteed Czech card) tomorrow...even though I was born in Greenwich Village...(or was it Prague?)
May I recommend a book you might enjoy more? It's titled "Big Jack" by Roswell Greene and Robert Candy. It was a Christmas gift from my parents when I was 12, I think. I found it very readable, not at all boring and the illustrations were of such a caliber that they launched me into the fabulous field of fish-illustration that I enjoy to this very day! Czech it out, my fellow Bohemian! |

Mister Afgantrout How can I locate the book you so highly recommended. Please do you stray from the flock. Us Bohemian's are a dying breed. I did spend
some time in the Village but that was in a previous life. By the way I am tying flies to get one of your wonderful paintings from Larry McCarthy at Beaverkill
Traders. Cannot wait.

Bohemian Bob, Wow! I won't turn in my card if you are angling for one of my art pieces. Is it the big lithograph of the brookie w/lily pads? If so, take
a look at the announcement about the E. W. Edwards book by our own Pat Garner at the top of this Book Talk section. Also, do you have McCarthey's e-mail?

Bob S,
Perhaps we should form a splitter group..."Bohemians for Bill". Harms has been my friend for ....thirty years or so. I wrote the story about him, his rods and his role as faithful apostle to Marinaro in Art of Angling Journal a few years back. Any way, as I said in the first post of this thread, it's a wonderful read and if one wants to dismiss an angling icon because he may be a curmudgeon at heart, the field of icons would be drastically narrowed for you, gentle reader. gosh, it is bedtime! Midwest Fly Fishing magazine/March has a review of "Split and Glued" by Kathy Scott, who does the book justice.
