If anyone is familiar with South Bend rods, which I'm not at all, just looking for another inexpensive 8'6", your thoughts on a model 47 ? thanks.

Hi, I believe the 47 is a bass rod, probably 6-7 weight. If you want a trout rod you need to find a 323, 346 or 359. The South bend rods are generally pretty
nice for the going prices.
When I match wits with a trout, I usually lose...
